Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon
Physiatrist

CURRICULUM VITAE

Dr. Sydney Haje is Pediatric Orthopaedics Instructor of the Secretaria de Estado da Saúde - Governo do Distrito Federal, physician of the Hospital Regional da Asa Norte (Secretaria de Estado da Saúde - Governo do Distrito Federal), and the Medical Director of the Centro Clínico ORTHOPECTUS (Clinical Center ORTHOPECTUS) – a Pediatric and Adolescent Orthopaedics and Adult Rehabilitation Clinic - in Brasília, DF, Brazil.

His research interests include skeletal growth disturbances, spinal and trunk anomalies and specially the anterior chest wall deformities known as pectus carinatum and pectus excavatum. Through basic experiments and imaging studies he called attention to orthopaedic concepts in the development of pectus deformities. Since 1977 he has developed a conservative treatment through the use of orthoses and exercises, the dynamic remodeling method, proving that such deformities can be treated with good results without surgery, if basic orthopaedic principles are followed. He has more than 20 scientific publications and received five awards for his studies (see below).
